Tenuta Sette Cieli
Tenuta Sette Cieli is a young Tuscan reality founded in 2001, with the desire to create a farm in an area that is still wild and unspoiled, where to cultivate the vineyard and produce wine in harmony with nature, according to a still artisanal vision. To bring the project to life, the hilly area of Monteverdi Marittimo was identified, located in the Bolgheri hinterland. Just a few kilometers from one of the most famous denominations in Tuscany, loved all over the world thanks to some labels that have entered the Olympus of oenology, Erika and her sons Ambrogio and Acqua have managed to create a model estate, where one can breathe the love for the land, the passion for work, and the pride of producing great terroir wines.
The estate is located between Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri, at an altitude of about 400 meters, beautifully overlooking the Tyrrhenian coast. The proximity to the sea helps to soften the cool climate with mild breezes. The area is also characterized by the presence of significant temperature excursions, which allow slow and gradual ripening of the grapes, which helps to promote the accumulation of particularly intense and elegant aromas and the preservation of remarkable freshness even upon reaching full phenolic maturity. The vineyards are cultivated on terraces supported by dry stone walls surrounded by large wooded areas, which ensure rich biodiversity and create a landscape far from the monoculture of the vine. The total area of the property is, in fact, 80 hectares but only 10 are cultivated with vineyards.
The most suitable parcels have been chosen for exposure, microclimate, and soil composition, and in each place, the most suitable variety has been planted, in order to obtain grapes of excellent quality. The soils are medium-textured, composed of sand, silt, clay, and with a significant presence of skeleton, making them rather poor and well-draining. The area has always been suited to the cultivation of red grape varieties and in particular the most important international grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Malbec. The vineyards are managed according to the principles of organic farming, in perfect harmony with the surrounding environment. All operations in the vineyard, from winter pruning to harvest, are carried out manually with great care and attention. The same approach is followed in the winery, with separate vinifications for each individual plot, carried out simply, using indigenous yeasts and minimal intervention.
